Train is
another option to travel in Northern Greece and target the areas of Xanthi and Thrace. Greece’s only
train company is “OSE”. There are 2
different types of trains to Northern Greece,
Intercity (IC) and Fast Track (Tax. Pr.). The difference between these 2 is
that the IC only makes stops on major cities and this makes it faster than the
other. That’s the reason why you should choose the IC train rather than the
other one.

Travelling
by train in Northern Greece is not that time
efficient (more than 4 hours) because of following a different route and
connecting Kilkis & Serres. It is though the most cost effective method of
transport to Xanthi.

Xanthi’s
train station as you can see on the map is approximately 1km to the city center
which makes that a walkable distance.
